Clogged Drain Cleaning

There is nothing as frustrating as a clogged drainage system. The awful smell, the inconvenience in using the taps and over draining of water are just simply intolerable. Here’s some tips that show many times you don’t need heavy industrial chemicals as some will have you believe.

1. Use of Vinegar

A tested and genuine method, the use of vinegar has proven to work wonders when it comes to clogged drain cleaning. This can be done by tossing up one or two cups of baking soda and then removing as much liquid as possible from the clogged drain. Then pour out a cup of vinegar and let it rest for around 30 minutes after plugging the stopper. Then, open and pour a kettle of hot water. This method will work perfectly regardless of the nature of backed up liquid. For complete clearing out of the gunk, you can double the vinegar, leave it to rest in the drain and finally pour hot water 2-3 times and the clogged drain will look admirably brilliant.

2. Baking Soda

Another DIY clogged drain cleaning involves the use of home baking soda. Start by getting rid of the backed gunk as much as possible. Similar to the above method, toss about 1 cup of baking soda in the drained kitchen or tub and pour a kettle of hot water on top. If you notice a great deal of emptying, continue with the process one more time and finally, open up tap water and let it drain for a few minutes.

3. Use of a Plunger

Try and force the clearing of things by the use of a plunger. So as to help make a vacuum seal for the plunger as well as a few plunges, you will have to get a few inches of the liquid in the sink for the work. Additionally, you can purchase a 1/3 of a regular toilet plunger and although they are only a couple bucks, they are very ideal for emergencies. A full size one will do just in case you lack the right size.

4. Slow Clogs and a Combination of Soda and Vinegar

If you notice the draining of water and gunk to be much slower, although the drainage is not fully clogged, you can try the ‘flush’ way to prevent complete clogging by. However, a combination of both the vinegar and baking soda has proven to be a powerful solution.

This can be done by leaving the stopper open as well as the backed mess for a whole night. In the morning, you will notice the two have worked on the build-up free drainage. Finally, run down very hot water just to clear things up.

Simple household ingredients would be gentle but equally effective when it comes to coaxing free a drain from any form of a clog. This is better than to expose a hole to the burns from acid or industrial lye. Also available are enzyme bacteria based cleaners that ‘eat’ the clogs without harming any other thing that comes in contact to it.

However, if all these methods prove futile, outsourcing the services of professional plumber would be the last option. The skilled plumber will clean all your drains as well as repair any pipes that might attract similar future problems. So to prevent possible injuries with the use of the above mentioned chemicals, you are better off calling a professional plumber for a lasting drain cleaning solution.
